How do I control rangeland weeds?

Last Updated: March 19, 2011

On rangelands, a variety of methods can be used, including herbicides, biological control, hand pulling, and mechanical control. Herbicides can be either specific to that plant, or general, and should be applied according to the label. Biological control may include either specific insect species or using grazing animals. Hand pulling may be effective in small infestations but is generally not economical for large areas. Mechanical control may be used where appropriate and is generally only used for larger areas.
