How do you determine the quality of the grass in a pasture?

If you are concerned about the feed quality of grass, the easiest way to test it is to collect a representative sample and send it to a university or commercial laboratory for testing. If necessary, and if the lab offers the service, you may be able to specify the grazing animal so that the lab can compare your sample's results to the dietary requirements of your animals.
