Quiescent zones, full-flow settling basins, and off-line settling basins are used to settle and collect solids from flow-through production systems. Quiescent zones are screened-off areas below the rearing area at the downstream end of raceways or culture tanks. Full-flow settling basins treat the entire flow of a facility and may or may not be used with quiescent zones. Off-line settling basins received the concentrated waste stream from the quiescent zones but not the entire flow of the facility.
