Can I freeze raw tomatoes?

Tomatoes that are frozen raw become watery and develop off-flavors after a short period of freezer storage. Tomatoes that are too ripe for safe canning, but still sound and free from decay, can safely be frozen. Directions are given in, "Freezing Vegetables."
