I received some lotus seeds and would like to try germinating them. Any suggestions?

We assume that you are talking about the water plant Nelumbo lutea, commonly known as American lotus. The only thing that we can find on propagating lotus by seed is from the book Hortus Third: A Concise Dictionary of Plants Cultivated in the United States and Canada: "Propagation by seeds sown in shallow pans in the garden, or rolled in a ball of clay and dropped into pond; seed coats are hard and seeds may germinate better if scarified."
