Educational Background: Lisa received a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science and a Master’s in Ruminant Nutrition, both from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln.

Job Description: As the TSO Leader for Natura Pet Products, Lisa is responsible for overseeing the non-invasive research activity conducted at the Natura Health and Nutrition Center, along with new product development, technical consumer service, and ingredient qualification. On a typical day, she will do a variety of formulation work, review of palatability and stool quality results of test products, laboratory analysis submissions and review of lab results, and talk to consumers on an as need basis regarding the ingredients and nutritional philosophies of our foods.

Favorite Component of Her Job:  Lisa states, “I absolutely love the people I work with and their passion for the animals our products help on a daily basis. It’s great knowing that Natura is providing a high quality product that I have helped to develop, test and qualify.”

Lisa’s Recommendations for Those Interested in a Career Similar to Her Own: “It is important to have a vast understanding of nutrition and animals. As you can see from my background, species is less important than the general nutrition concepts. Another great thing to do is get involved! I know everyone stresses volunteering and club involvement, but it is the best way to meet people who can help ‘guide’ your career. If you interested in animal nutrition, job shadow an animal nutritionist can provide insight into their job and help to see if you are really interested in that field.”
