Transporting manure nutrients out of and using manure in vulnerable watersheds, such as the Chesapeake Bay and the Illinois River basin, have received increased national attention. Researchers have studied sustainable use of manure in these watersheds and alternative storage systems that can make transport of poultry litter more feasible and economical.
