Being a child care provider is an extremely important job. Child care providers are responsible for all areas of children's growth, development, and learning while they are in the child care program.

Annual staff reviews help ensure that child care providers are providing developmentally appropriate care and learning for all of the children in their group. Annual reviews provide an opportunity for child care providers and directors to:

  • Ensure that staff have the same expectations for children's care and learning
  • Share thoughts and concerns about child care program policies and  procedures
  • Praise and reward staff
  • Explain annual salary increases
  • Work together to set professional development and training goals for the next year
  • Make sure children in your child care program are receiving the care they need and deserve

In addition to annual staff reviews, monthly staff meetings can help keep everybody on the same page. Monthly staff meetings are a time when child care providers and directors discuss policy, procedures, thoughts, and concerns before they turn into problems that need to be solved. Holding monthly staff meetings can improve communication between child care providers and directors, which helps make annual staff reviews less overwhelming.
