Description:
November is National Family Caregivers Month! Pets are often an important member of families, and the intentional use of canines can help those who need care achieve their potential and improve quality of life. Dr. Debra Sellers, Kansas State University, will share her personal experiences as an animal assisted therapist and volunteer and outline the differences between the two. She'll discuss specific intervention techniques and share success stories, as well as efforts that didn't go quite as planned. Hear about the joys and sorrows of working as a member of a human-animal team, and learn how that team has changed. Come prepared to engage in discussion and ask questions. As a complement to the presentation, attendees are invited to tour The LiveAbility House and earn L$250 by providing feedback on the experience. Come and celebrate national Family Caregivers Month with us on November 28, 5pm SLT at: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Morrill/31/203/24
