At what age can nurse mare foals be let out on pasture during the day with mares that aren't their mothers?

There is not really a recommended age, but instead it depends on behavior. The nurse mare and foal should be put out together for periods of time to be sure the foal follows and has really bonded with the nurse mare. Assuming you have a foal put with one nurse mare and the mare has accepted the foal, try to put the pair out in a small area with one other pair and observe how well they get along. It is always best to work gradually when introducing horses, regardless of their age.
