To find an equine expert in your area, you might contact your local county Cooperative Extension office, or this link: www.ext.vt.edu/offices/. To help prepare for a meeting with your equine expert, review the following free resources from eXtension on horse facilities: http://www.extension.org/category/horse_facilities. In addition, you can look at some detailed eXtension learning modules such as "Basic Horse Care and Management" at: http://www.extension.org/horses/learning_lessons.

Another great resource on facilities is the "Horse Facilities Handbook" available at www.mwps.org. In addition, My Horse University and eXtension produce free recorded Web casts that may be of interest to you: myhorseuniversity.com. Finally, you may want to take some more structured online courses through My Horse University. A great introductory course in horse management is Purchasing and Owning a Horse 101.
