Seven Principles of Water Wise Landscaping

Seven principles of water-wise design have been developed to guide the process of designing for water conservation in the landscape. They are:

  1. Planning and design for water conservation, beauty, and utility.
  2. Hydrozoning.
  3. Efficient watering.
  4. Establishing practical turf areas.
  5. Improving soils.
  6. Mulching to reduce water loss.
  7. Maintaining the landscape.
