Water-Wise Stewards

Why be a water wise steward? The word stewardship invokes a sense of responsibility.  A water wise steward is someone who understands and adopts responsible water conservation practices.

Why conserve water?

No one wants water rationing! In some parts of the country, water is being used faster than it can be replenished. The United States Environmental Protection Agency estimates that, nationwide, more than 7 billion gallons per day are used for residential landscape irrigation.  Up to 50% of commercial and residential irrigation is wasted.  Reducing water use in the landscape is an excellent place to start conserving. Contact your local Cooperative Extension Service for information on water conservation programs in your area.
