How high off the floor of the stall should a hay rack be mounted?

Your hay rack can be hung about 4.5 to 5 feet off the ground, or where the bottom of the hay rack is about level with where the horse's neck ties into the shoulder. The horse should be able to hold his head in a natural position and reach the hay rack. The horse should not have to reach up to get hay. If you hang the hay rack too low, there is the potential for the horse to get his front leg stuck in the rack.
