What is Bahiagrass?

Turfgrass Quick Facts: Bahiagrass (Paspalum notatum Flugge)      

Bahiagrass is a good all purpose relatively low maintenance warm season (LINK to Warm Season Turfgrass Species)grass used in lawns where drought tolerance is needed. It is adapted the southern U.S. and parts of southern California.   

Bahiagrass Characteristics

  • Native of Brazil
  • Low maintenance
  • Does not produce a dense sod
  • Drought tolerant
  • Not cold tolerant
  • Best in low pH (acid) soils
  • Can become weedy
