Webcast Series

Looking Ahead to the September Webcast: Waste to Worth Preview

In a departure from our normal webcast format, we are hosting an open discussion about the upcoming "Waste to Worth: Spreading Science and Solutions" conference. The purpose is to showcase some of the current topic areas and to offer an open platform for questions, discussion and idea sharing. We hope that those who are curious, interested, or even uncertain about the conference can solidify ideas and identify potential collaborators. Everyone will be on the phone line with the speakers to maximize opportunities for discussion. Flyer...

Speakers: Everyone will have a chance to be the speaker on this one! We have asked Natalie Rector, Michigan State, April Leytem, USDA ARS, Jay Ham, Colorado State, Mike Daniels, University of Arkansas, and Crystal Powers, University of Nebraska to talk about their ideas. Joe Harrison, Washington State and Mark Risse, University of Georgia will moderate. Most of the time will be available for questions, ideas, and discussion.

The abstract submission deadline for Waste to Worth has been extended until November 16, 2012 for oral presentations. Posters will be accepted until the hall is filled.

Great Lakes, CIG Grants, SARE Grants, Value-Added Grant

Great Lakes. The U.S. and Canada have signed an amended Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement. Previously, the agreement included algal blooms and toxic chemicals. The new agreement also addresses invasive aquatic species and climate change. More...

CIG Grants. The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) has released a call for proposals for its Conservation Innovation Grants (CIG) program. This call focuses on adapting to drought. More...

SARE Grants. The annual Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education (SARE) program call for farmer grants are now open. The application process and deadline varies by region. The farmer and rancher grants are generally aimed at helping farmers experiment with sustainable practices or solutions. North Central | Northeast | Southern | Western.
