Yes, you can mark chicks for identification using leg bands or wing bands.

  • Leg bands, as their name implies, fit around the leg of the chick. It is important to use bands that can expand to accommodate the growing leg of the chick.
  • Wing bands are clips that go through the chick's wing web (the part of the wing that has no bones). You can wing band chicks that are as young as one day old. Wing bands should stay on as chicks grow.
