Financial Success: Recovery after Bankruptcy -- an approved debtor education course*

ENROLLMENT STEPS (Please read before clicking on link)

  • To get to the course site, click on the link below.
  • When in the course click on the Create an Account button on the right side of the page. This will allow you to enroll in the course.
  • After creating the account, check your email to see a message that verifies your account.
  • Next you will be asked to pay the $20 fee to PayPal or enter an enrollment key. The enrollment key will be provided after you pay the fee or upon getting permission to start the course through a fee waiver.
    • The course is offered without regard to one's ability to pay. If your attorney has handled your bankruptcy case pro bono, submit a signed letter from your attorney by email or FAX to that effect and we will waive your fee. You also may receive a fee waiver if your income is below 200% of the Federal poverty threshold: contact us with the number of people in your household and your household income as of the last tax filing period. Submit a signed and notarized statement with that information and FAX it to Michael Gutter at 352-392-8196 or send by email attachment to msgutter@ufl.edu to receive a fee waiver.
  • The enrollment key will be provided after you pay the fee or get permission to start the course through a fee waiver. If you receive a fee waiver (see below for instructions) you will also receive the enrollment key at that time.
  • Be sure to complete the course in one sitting, because the course cannot save your place if you leave the site before finishing.

This eXtension course, Financial Success: Recovery after Bankruptcy, was developed by a team of personal finance specialists who are university faculty members. They come from land grant universities across the nation. The course is drawn from classes they offer and materials they have developed in their respective universities, and it has been vetted through a peer review process.

  • The cost for the Financial Success course is $20 per person. Couples who have filed for bankruptcy jointly must complete the course separately. Payment will be made through PayPal.
  • The course is offered without regard to one's ability to pay.   • This course is available 24/7; however the certificates will be provided during business hours from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM Central Time the next business day after completing the class.
  • Questions will be answered by members of the Financial Security for All Ask an Expert team. The automated system will forward the questions to members of the team with an understanding that the questions should be answered within one business day.
  • Evaluations will be completed at the end of the course through a polling system that will provide a count of the answers without keeping any names or other identifying information.
  • We offer the course in all judicial districts covered by the U. S. Trustees Program.
