Falls are one of the most common bathroom accidents. Slippery floors, bathtubs, and shower surfaces can be hazardous. Showers and tubs should have non-slip floor surfaces, non-slip suction mats, or non-slip decals. This will help prevent bathers from falling while getting in and out of the tub or shower. Do not use throw rugs or bath mats as floor coverings because they are easy to trip over. Instead, use a non-skid, latex-coated bath mat. Matte-finished, textured tile is recommended as a floor covering.
