I am currently serving as a program specialist with Texas AgriLife Extension in the Institute of Renewable Natural Resources. My emphasis area is the use of emerging technologies in outreach and education, particularly as enable Cooperative Extension to expand its reach to the public. These technologies include distance education, social media, and understanding learning networks and how they empower citizens to create impacts in their communities.
I began my career as a specialist in the use of geospatial technology tools (GIS, GPS, Remote Sensing) in the study of natural resources. Most of my project experience focuses on exploring the integration of geospatial tools in support ecological concepts. My main focus is on assisting in implementing these tools and serving as a knowledge broker between scientists. The projects I work on usually have an applied research component where either the tools or the associated geospatial data has a strong link to stakeholders either through helping them with a management need, or providing them with a context in which to explore the landscape.
