Bow Legged

Last Updated: July 15, 2008 Related resource areas: Horses

Bowlegged horse

Bowlegged horses have an outward deviation as viewed from the front, usually in the knee. This condition causes compresson on the inside of the bone and increased tension on the tendons and ligaments on the outside of the leg due to the unequal distribution of concussion and force when the hoof strikes the ground.
