A series of lessons for new and prospective horse owners are available to address the following learning objectives.

  1. Determine your interest level as it relates to horse ownership.
  2. Understand the costs associated with owning a horse.
  3. Understand the principles of feeding management.
  4. Recognize the suitability of the horse and rider combination.
  5. Develop evaluation skills for selecting the right horse.


Selecting the Right Horse

Choosing the right horse for a particular purpose or person is a vital part of ownership success. Not all horses are appropriate for all horsemanship skill levels or activities. It is imporatant to be able to identify the needs of those that will be handling or riding the horse to make a winning match.
