TWIN FALLS, Idaho — Ag Weekly reports Idaho has surpassed New York as the state with the third largest milk production in July.
“We’ve been slowly gaining on them for a couple of years, adding cow numbers,” said Wilson Gray, dairy economist with the University of Idaho Extension Service in Twin Falls. “New York has either been steady or losing cow numbers. We’ve been pretty close to them (in production) the last couple of months.”
Idaho still trails California in the first-place spot and Wisconsin in second in both milk and cheese production.
