The following resources are helpful as you work toward detecting and diagnosing indoor plant problems.


  • Plant Diagnostics (Maryland Cooperative Extension) helps you identify problems by plant part affected
- User hint: Choose the Houseplant link in the left navigation bar, then choose the plant part you would like to diagnose. When you find the symptom or sign that matches the problem, click on the "Go" button for information and management of the problem.


Insect and Diseases Problems and Control

  • Houseplant Diseases and Disorders (Home and Garden Information Center, Clemson University Extension) is an overview of the diseases and disorders that create problems for houseplants
  • Houseplant Insect Control (University of Minnesota Extension) discusses prevention, general identification characteristics, and nonchemical and chemical control measures
