FARGO, N.D. -- Corn production recommendations for western North Dakota will be discussed in meetings sponsored by the North Dakota Corn Growers Association and North Dakota State University Extension Service. These meetings will be held at the KC Hall in Mott on Feb. 13 and at the Memorial Hall in Washburn on Feb. 14.

The Best Management Practices for Corn Production in Western North Dakota meetings will give participants the most recent information on how to successfully grow corn.

A featured speaker is Drew Lyon, University of Nebraska, who will review corn production techniques developed for the drier regions of Nebraska. NDSU Extension Service specialists also will review their latest research findings and recommendations on the production, harvesting, drying and storing of corn

“These meetings should be an excellent opportunity to review what worked for producing corn in 2007 and learn techniques that will improve corn profitability in western North Dakota,” say Joel Ransom, NDSU Extension Service agronomist for cereal crops and a program organizer.

The meetings are free and will include lunch, but preregistration is requested to help plan for the meal. Registration for these meetings will begin at 8:30 a.m.

For more information and to preregister, contact the county Extension Service office in Hettinger at (701) 824-2095 or McLean at (701) 462-8541.
