What's my Body-Mind?
Walk through Scenario 2
The following is a “script” by which a reader can experience each step along the way of creating their experience through their “lens” and “self-talk” – which reflect the mechanism of perception.
Imagine that you are at the local mall doing some shopping. As you are walking along, you notice a good friend coming towards you on the opposite side of the walkway…As they get closer, your friend turns his / her head and glances towards you – you wave – but they turn away and start talking to their companion…
- 1. What are your first thoughts (your “self-talk”)?
- 2. What does this remind you of from your past (your lens)?
- 3. Use the matrix on the next screen to determine your self-image...

| High Self-image Thinking | Low Self-image Thinking |
| I wonder if they didn’t see me? | What did I do to upset them? |
| I want to find out if something I might have done could have upset them. | Why does this always happen to me? |
| This friendship is important to me…I want to understand what’s going on. | What do they want from me? |
| I suppose that if something important is going on they will tell me… | Should I talk to the friend they were with to find out what’s going on? |
