Investing for retirement involves choosing from several tax advantaged retirement plans, each of which provides particular tax benefits and a possible employer match. These retirement plans have been created through legislation to encourage individual saving for retirement. The plans also come with restrictions that limit access to funds for any purpose other than retirement. Benefits and restrictions that apply to many of the plans are described in this publication.
