BOZEMAN, Mont. -- Applications are available for the Montana Health Careers Summer Camp, a two-week summer enrichment program for high school juniors and seniors with an interest in medicine, nursing and other healthcareers.

The deadline to apply is March 31.

The program is particularly intended for students from disadvantaged homes, including minority or economically disadvantaged students, students from rural areas or from a family in which neither parent is a college graduate.

It is designed to provide opportunities not normally available to students from those backgrounds, said Kristin Juliar, director of the program and of the Montana Office of Rural Health.

The goal of the program is to encourage these students' interest in a health care career, by providing college-setting experiences with the addition of job-shadowing in professions of interest to them. Participants receive room and board, and mileage assistance.
