Thematic Data

Thematic data refers to data with an overall theme or subject. This data is used to build thematic maps such as a soils map. In image classification, thematic data is represented as discreet groups of values that are translated into specific classes. For instance, pixel values that are similar may be grouped into a single class rather then left as unique graduating values (refer to Continuous Data).
