Update on FTC's Do Not Call List
INFORMATION RELEASE
The Federal Trade Commission has decided not to drop any telephone numbers from their Do Not Call list, as they were scheduled to do after five years beginning in June 2008. Under the current regulations, phone numbers registered in June 2003 would be dropped in June 2008. The FTC, however, now wants to make the Registry permanent, so they will not drop phone numbers until this proposed rule change is finalized. Therefore, for the time being, you do not need to re-register.
If you wish to reduce the number of unsolicited telemarketing calls that you receive at home or on your cell phone, you can add those phone numbers to the national Do Not Call Registry by visiting www.DoNotCall.gov or by calling toll-free (888) 382-1222.
