A veterinarian with the Louisiana State AgCenter discusses mosquito-borne illnesses and how horses should be vaccinated before mosquitoes become active.

BATON ROUGE, La. -- Horses contract diseases such as eastern and western equine encephalitis and West Nile virus from mosquitoes. But horse owners shouldn’t wait until mosquitoes become active to vaccinate. In a radio clip, LSU AgCenter veterinarian Dr. Dennis French says by then it could be too late:
