July 2016 was a busy month as we continued envisioning and planning new ways to serve Extension professionals. So many plans are now coming together that we have much to share–some items so current that they are breaking news in this issue.

Communities Co-creating New Opportunities with eXtension

eXtension Names New Chief Operating Officer

Beverly CoberlyBeverly Coberly has been selected as to assume the role of part-time COO of eXtension Foundation beginning September 12, 2016.  Beverly comes to this role from University of Missouri Extension, where she held a steady progression of administrative leadership roles, most recently Associate Vice-Provost and Associate Director. NAEPSDP/eXtension Fellowship Applications Open Until August 31, 2016

NAEPSDPNAEPSDP (National Association of Extension Program and Staff Development Professionals) and eXtension Foundation are partnering to create four new opportunities for NAEPSDP professionals to serve as eXtension Fellows in 2017. Applicants must be current or retired Cooperative Extension Employees who are members in good standing with NAEPSDP in the 2016 membership year. i-Three Issue Corps Member’s Gardening Blog Wins Top 100 Award

UGA Extensioni-Three Issue Corps member Becky Griffin’s gardening blog has been selected as Number 20 among the top 100 Gardening Blogs of this season.  Becky, who is University of Georgia (UGA) Extension’s Community and School Garden Coordinator, credits the blogging advice she received from Issue Corps key-informant experts at the NeXC2016 Conference for prompting improvements she made in her blog that resulted in her award.  Find Becky’s gardening blog here…

Since Zoom was adopted earlier this year as a primary tool provided by eXtension to its member institutions, many have adopted its use internally. Join eXtension Zoom Administrator Mark Locklear for an in-depth look at Zoom’s features and benefits. Mark will be joined by Terrence Wolfork, Assistant Administrator for Communications, Conferencing, and Technology at Fort Valley State University, and Mary Poling, Coordinator for Interactive Communications at University of Arkansas, for a discussion on how they are using Zoom at their institutions.
