Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) for extension professionals include both economic and non-economic impact areas. Extension professionals in all program areas may encounter needs related to race, gender, socioeconomic status, and disabilities, among others. Identifying and including underserved audiences in programs is a responsibility of extension professionals everywhere.

How do eXtension and the Impact Collaborative support extension professionals working in DEI or looking to ensure their programs are inclusive and equitable?

The IC process is structured to incubate innovative ideas and accelerate their development as projects for measurable local impact. Benefits of the IC include:

  • Dedicated time for individual or team ideation, planning, and collaboration through events like Designathon One and Designathon Two.
  • Connect with other extension professionals working in DEI through designathons, virtual professional development opportunities, and networking.
  • Connect with leaders in DEI. IC participants will have access to key informants, a program fellow and an organizing committee to help find solutions to barriers or challenges they encounter.
